Phil Emmanual was known best for his legendary guitar skills, Aussie larrikin humour and entertaining antics on stage. Off-stage he was known best for all of those things and much more. He was a very loving husband, father and friend. Everyone who met Phil was touched by his contagious and uplifting energy.

We are all deeply saddened by his unexpected passing at just 65 years old. He will always be in our hearts and we know that he is probably already taking a swig of Jack Daniels and rocking out with the angels up in heaven. Despite being considered by many as a rock god, possessing guitar skills most musicians spend a lifetime only dreaming of, Phil lived a very humble life and joins a medley of musical greats who left this world with not a penny but a legacy to their name.

So sorry to hear of Phil’s passing. Almost 50 years ago, in 1969 Phil and Tommy played backing for a single I recorded in Tamworth. I was amazed at their exceptional and exciting level of talent then as teenagers. I think we were at the Ch 10 studios… Thankyou to all who are helping do produce this special night in Phil’s honour, especially my good friend China Walker, the best muso at Cleveland High in the 70’s, and good friend of great musicians including Phil. Phil’s passing is such a loss for the music world, as well as for his family. The ‘farewell’ concert will be a wonderful tribute to Phil, and well deserved. Condolences to his wife and family at this sad time.
